Solotvyno (Slatina, Aknaslatina,Maramorosh Solotvyno, Slatinski Doli)
is located on the right bank of the Tysa river, between mountain ranges
Salavan and Mahura at the height of 200-300 above sea level in
Syget-Khust region of Carpathians, Tiachiv region of
Transcarpathia. Slatina is the best-known old name of Solotvyno
that means salty water. Solotvyno was first mentioned in the written documents
in 1360, when the existing village Slatina together
with others neighbpuring villages populated by Romanians, became the
property of Dragosh family from Bedeu (modern Bedevlia), which came
back in 1359 from a war campaign against Moldova. The
territory, where today's Solotvyno is situated, was populated many years ago.
The big town of VIII-IXc. BC testifies about it. Not far from the town
ancient salt mines and coins of III c. AD were found.
Transcarpathia is covered by the rich and ramified network of automobile and
railway roads of the international value. It helps to
get to any place easily not only within the territory of Ukraine, but abroad.
The distance to the biggest cities of westarn Ukraine:
- Lviv - 250 kms.
- Chernivtsi - 260 kms.
- Ivano-Frankivsk - 185 kms.
- To the regional centre - Uzhhorod - 150 kms.
To the capitals of the neighbouring countries: Romania, Hungary, Slovakia
- no more than 600 kms.
There is an airport in Uzhhorod, from which you can get not only to the
greatest cities of Ukraine but to the neighbouring countries too.
There is a big railway station in Mukachevo.
If agreed we can meet you in Uzhhorod by a car
(cost of service - $ 30). It is possible to
get to Mukachevo by trains from Kyiv and Moscow, where you can be met by a car
(cost $ 25). There is also the bus and the train from Lviv "Lviv-Solotvyno".
You can be met in Lviv by a car (cost $ 60). You can get to Iv.-Frankivsk by plane,
and there you will be met by a car - $ 45.
Also transit buses go through Solotvyno:
"Iv.-Frankivsk-Khust" and "Chernivtsi-Uzhhorod", "Uzhhorod-Yasinia",
"Uzhhorod-Rakhiv". All buses to Uzhhorod pass through Mukachevo.
