Speleotherapy under conditions of a microclimate of hydrochloric
mines is a modern progressive method of non-medical treatment
of chronic non-specific lung diseases. The basic method of
treatment, speleotherapy, is held in the underground
section, specially constructed in a thick hydrochloric layer, at the
depth of 300 meters from the surface. Total size of the
underground complex is close to 25000 cub.meters. It admits
190 people, also consists of the system of galleries with the total
length of 600 m and average height up to 6 m and width - about 12 m. On either
side of the galleries, in a hydrochloric layer there are cut down chambers, walls
and ceilings of which are covered with original natural design. It is formed
with the help of layers alternation of white and sulfur salt of different thickness and form.
There are diagnostic rooms, a room of rest, a hall of medical
physical training, a library, a lecture room, a chapel. There is the museum of the
history of speleotherapy development. There is the water drain,
water-supply and telephone communication (connection). In the underground section
there are 2 nursery posts, a duty doctor and an engineer of safety devices. They are constantly present.
The patients are placed in
chambers that admit 2, 3, 4 and 6 patients. Children are placed together in one
hall with the purpose of constant control after them.
The laboratories of express train - research of the air, gas structure and
control of the basic parameters of the underground section microclimate
(expansion and the concentration of sodium chloride аerosol , temperature,
humidity, speed of air movement) work here.
Microclimate of the underground section
The microclimate of the underground section is characterized by a high degree of
regeneration, constant parameters, optimum temperature above zero
- 22-23'С and air humidity - 20-60 %, minimal speed of air movement,
natural sterility (contents of microorganisms in the air of the section is the same
as in the operating-room), absence of harmful gases and allergens, normal
contents of sodium chloride and increased aeronization,
radiating background reduced to the minimum, and the influence of
electromagnetic fields. The results of scientific researches and practical
work have shown that the natural conditions of speleotherapeutic section
of UAH are highly favorable for the protective power and
reserves of human body, purification from allergens (that enter into the human
body from the air of the place of constant residing and work), regulation of exchange
processes as a whole. At the same time general positive influence
on the human body is successfully united with the expressed local effect of
highlyspread aerosol of sodium chloride on the human respiratory system.
Entering the bronchial tube and even the alveoli it
results in significant reduction of the intensity of inflammation,
oedema of the mucous membrane, improves the deliverance from mucus and depresses
the activity of unhealthy microorganisms in fires of the chronic
infection. It is shown in patients' fast recovery,
reduction of the vivid basic clinical symptoms of
disease (stuffiness, cough etc.) and the improvement of functional parameters of
external breath and biochemical characteristics of the human body. The
influence of such unique combination of the factors of the
underground section microclimat of UAH on the patients
with chronic non-specific respiratory diseases provides high
effectiveness of treatment and the termination disease development
and aggravations for a long time.
